Workflow Automations

Teams lose hours each week on admin work—assigning tasks, updating fields, chasing approvals. Relato’s smart automations does that for you.

Enable workflow automations to cut manual tasks and create a smooth process.

What are workflow automations?

Workflow automations are contextual rules users can enable in workspaces and projects that offload manual repetitive tasks and do your work for you in the background.

Automations are triggered when specific conditions are met. You set the rules, and automations run whenever those conditions are met.

Enabling automations in a Workspace

There are a number of automations that can be enabled within a workspace. Here's how to manage them:

To enable or disable automations in a workspace, navigate to the workspace you'd like to work with.

  1. Click Settings on the top right.

  2. Click the Automations tab in the Workspace Settings menu.

Here's a breakdown of available automations:

Assign new project to creator

The Assign new project to creator automation triggers when a new project is created. Enable this automation to automatically assign the project to the user who created the project.

This automation doesn't set the assignment on project tasks, only the project assignee.

Add Tasks to project

Every workspace is based on a template. When creating a new project, this workflow template determines its details.

Worflow templates contain workflow stages, fields, and, for every stage, a sequence of tasks.

Enable this automation to copy every task in the workflow template into your newly created project.

Add all workspace members to new project

When creating a new project, this automation adds all workspace members as project team members.

Enable this automation if you wish to speed up assigning project teams to new projects.

Assign project to next up

Both projects and tasks can have an assignee, but they don't need to be the same person at any given time. Depending on how you have set up your process, this automation will auto-assign the project to the same assignee as the next uncompleted task.

Enable this automation if you run your projects as a relay, assigning the project to the same person as the next uncompleted task.

Add project roles

When a new project is created, assign roles to the project team based on the roles your workspace members most frequently have in other projects in this workspace.

This automation will give better results as you add more projects with team roles set in a given workspace.

Set content type

When a new project is created, auto-set the content type for this project to the workspace template content type.

Set funnel stage

When a new project is created, auto-set funnel stage based on available information in the project. This automation will only run if the project has at least one asset added to it.

Add new labels

When a new project is created, auto-add new labels based on available information in the project. This automation will only run if the project has at least one asset added to it.
