If you already have content elsewhere, you can bring it into Relato as assets so you can work on it in one place. This article covers the ways to import existing content and how to organize it once it lands.
From Google Docs
You can create assets directly from your Google Docs. This is a good fit when your drafts already live in Docs and you want them to sit alongside the rest of a project. Once imported, the content becomes an asset you can edit and work on in Relato.
From URLs
You can create assets from one or more URLs. Point Relato at an existing published page, or a set of pages, and it pulls the content in as assets. This is useful when the content you want is already live on the web and you want a copy to work from inside Relato.
From an existing website (crawl and map)
To bring in a larger site, Relato can crawl a website and map its pages. The crawl walks the site and builds a map of its pages, which helps you see the structure of what you have and pull the content in. This is the path to use when you are migrating a whole existing site rather than a handful of pages.
Organize what you imported
Assets attach to projects, so a typical migration looks like this: create a project (or a workspace of projects) for the content area, then import the source content as assets on those projects. That keeps related content grouped where you plan to work on it.
For a larger import, an AI Content Agent can help. The agent reads the assets you imported and organizes them into projects, so you do not have to sort everything by hand.
Plan your migration
A simple order of operations keeps a bigger migration manageable:
Start with one content area rather than the whole library at once.
Import the source content for that area using Google Docs, URLs, or a website crawl.
Organize the imported assets into projects, on your own or with an AI Content Agent.
Repeat with the next content area once the first one is in place.
FAQ
Can I import a whole existing site?
Yes. Relato can crawl a website and map its pages, so you can bring in a full site and see its structure rather than importing pages one at a time.
Can an agent help organize what I import?
Yes. An AI Content Agent can read your imported assets and organize them into projects.
