Connect Hootsuite to Relato with the Hootsuite MCP

Written by David Baum

Connect Hootsuite to Relato so your AI Content Agents can draft, schedule, and publish social posts across your networks, from inside Relato.

What you can do

Once Hootsuite is connected, an agent can:

  • Schedule and publish posts to the accounts you have set up in Hootsuite, including LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.

  • Adapt one project into copy for several networks in a single run.

  • Queue posts to go out at set times, with a person approving before they publish.

Connect Hootsuite

In Relato open Settings > Integrations > MCP > Add account, paste the Hootsuite Perch MCP URL (mcp.hootsuite.com/perch), sign in to your Hootsuite workspace when prompted, and name the account. Sign-in is one time. The name you give it prefixes that service's tools in the agent tool picker. Then attach the Hootsuite tools plus the Relato query and project tools to an agent, and set a trigger: a project stage change, a schedule, or manual. For the full walkthrough see Connect any MCP to Relato. For the connector itself, see the official Hootsuite MCP documentation.

A good first agent

Create an agent called Hootsuite scheduler. Attach the Hootsuite tools plus the Relato query and project tools. Set its instructions to: read the project when it reaches the Ready stage, write a version for your LinkedIn account and a shorter version for your X account, and add both to your Hootsuite queue as scheduled posts. Set the trigger to the stage change so each ready project fans out to your networks, and keep a person on the approval step before anything goes live.

A note on OAuth

Relato's MCP integration is OAuth based. Hootsuite's Perch server uses a one-time workspace sign-in, so it connects cleanly once you have an active Hootsuite account with access to Perch and the networks you want to post to. If you cannot reach it, tell us at [email protected] and we will help you find a path.

FAQ

Which networks can the agent post to? The ones you have connected inside Hootsuite. Perch reaches LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok, so an agent can use any of those your workspace has set up.

Does it post now or queue for later? Either, and you decide. Most teams have the agent add posts to the Hootsuite queue or leave them scheduled so a person reviews before they publish. Hootsuite keeps a human in the approval step by design.
